Nepal’s Annual Astronomy Talent Hunt for Students

Register for the 13th National Astronomy Olympiad 2026. Since 2014, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) has been organizing the National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO), targeting the secondary level students of Nepal.

National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO) is an early-stage talent hunt program for the school students in Nepal. It’s an annual program for junior (class 8-10) and senior (class 11-12) students in Nepal providing an opportunity to learn communication, collaboration, critical thinking and critical writing to for their personal growth to support their academic career in STEAM field in future. The program has three stages namely the provincial round (entrance exam), national round and final round respectively which will be held between January -July of each year.

🗓️ Second Round (National | Assignments): February 13 to 26 2026
🗓️ Final Round (National | Closed Camp | Final Exam): June 1 to 7 2026

🧑‍🎓 Eligibility

Junior Category: Born after July 1 2010 and studying in class 8 to 10 or equivalent
Senior Category: Born after July 1 2006 and currently studying at school or completing 10+2 or equivalent in 2025

💵 Registration Fee: NRs 1,000
💵 Waiver: 50% discount for poor and deserving students with supporting letter

🏆 What Happens After NAO2026

Successful students will undergo interviews and selections to represent Nepal at:
🌏 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in Vietnam, October 2026
🌏 5th IOAA Junior in Thailand, November 2026
